Expression and prognostic value of MIR-610 in patients with colorectal cancer
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: MIR-610 has been identified as a tumor suppressor in colorectal cancer (CRC). However, its prognostic value in colorectal cancer remains unclear. The aim of this study was to explore the significance of miR-610 expression in prognosis of colorectal cancer. Methods: The expression of MIR-610 was determined in 209 pairs of CRC samples and the corresponding surrounding non-tumor tissues by Quantitative RT-PCR. Then, the association of miR-610 expression with clinicopathological factors and the prognosis of colorectal cancer patients were also analysed. Results: The expression of MIR-610 was significantly down regulated in colorectal cancer when compared to the non-tumorous tissues (p<0.001). Low level of miR-610 was obviously related to large tumor size, positive lymph node metastasis, and advanced clinical stage. Moreover, Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the overall survival rate of the low miR-610 expression group was significantly lower than that of the high miR-610 expression group (p<0.001). The multivariate analysis identified low MIR-154 expression as an independent predictor of poor survival. Conclusions: MIR-610 may play an important role in the progression of colorectal cancer, and could be used as an independent prognostic biomarker for patients with colorectal cancer.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common types of cancers worldwide. Despite the improved therapeutic and diagnostic strategies and screening programs, morbidity and mortality of CRC is still considerable. Currently, most common approaches for diagnosis of CRC are colonoscopy and fecal occult blood test (FOBT). Because of the invasive nature of colonoscopy and low sensitivity of FOBT, ...
متن کاملAltered expression of Lnc-OC1 and SIRT1 genes in colorectal cancer tissue
Backgrounds: SIRT1 plays an important role in many physiological processes, including metabolism, neuronal protection, senecence and inflammatory, by staging histones and multiple transcription factors. However, the complex mechanisms of SIRT1 signaling in tumors are not yet fully understood, as it acts as both an oncogen and a tumor suppressor. On the other hand, it has been shown that the Lnc...
متن کاملEvaluation of miR-330-3p and BMI1 Expression in Colorectal Cancer Patients, Healthy Adjacent Tissues, and Polypoid Adenomatous Lesions
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as essential gene expression regulators associated with human diseases such as colorectal cancer (CRC). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the expression of miR-330-3p and its target gene BMI1 in tissue samples of patients with CRC, polyp, and healthy adjacent tissue samples and their association with clinicopathological and demographic factors such as age...
متن کاملIs Bax/Bcl-2 Ratio Considered as a Prognostic Marker with Age and Tumor Location in Colorectal Cancer?
Background: Bax and Bcl-2 are the major members of Bcl-2 family whose play a key role in tumor progression or inhibition of intrinsic apoptotic pathway triggered by mitochondrial dysfunction. Therefore, the balance between pro- and anti-apoptotic members of this family can determine the cellular fate. Methods: In this study, the relative level of mRNA expression of Bax and Bcl-2 genes was deter...

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that function as post-transcriptional gene expression regulators. The expression profiling of miRNAs has already entered into cancer clinics as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers to assess tumor initiation, progression and response to treatment in cancer patients. Recent Studies opened the way for the use of circulating miRNAs as non-invasive diagn...
